Luxury begins with Colours Customisation

By Phyo Ei Khine

If you have decided to live in a gated community, the designs of the houses are normally standardised in compliance with the masterplan of the developers. But in some projects, you can customise the interiors to your unique taste.

Colours customisation can change the look and feel of your house. Colours reflect you and your personality. “Colour throughout your home’s interiors – whether splashed across your walls or dotted throughout your homewares and decor – can create interest in certain areas and help encourage a flow from room to room,” enthused Elisabeth VanDyk, Dulux colour consultant. Nowadays, people seek inspiration from the latest hue trend for their contemporary homes.

Let’s take closer look of basic colour concept for different rooms.

Work From Home

You will be spending significant amount of time in your home office amidst COVID-19. Consider the hue of home office that brings about optimum productivity, energy and creativity by choosing bright tones like apricot orange or bold yellow. To make apricot orange and golden yellow work well, you can complement with brown, black and white shade. If you prefer to keep the walls neutral, use some bright curtains and furniture instead. Don’t forget to add some greenery to reduce stress and uplift your spirit.

Living Room

Living room is the heart of your home, not only do you spend time with family here, this is the place where moments are made. You will have spent time chatting with your friends, meeting with special guests in this place. Use neutral colours to reflect your affinity with luxurious and elegant furniture or deco. If you think neutral colour is a little bit uninspiring, opt for sage green instead. Green represents nature, consider adding indoor plants here to bring in a breath of fresh air.

Master Bedroom

The right colour for the master bedroom should be calming and promotes good sleep. To get a sense of calm, you can pick ice blue, pale beige, lilac, muted green or blush pink. These colour tones are warm neutral which help calm your mind and reduce tension. The idea to have a more calming space is to get rid of unnecessary things in your bedroom. Consider minimalist as another option.

Kitchen

Kitchen is a place where you share everything with your family. Dulux colour consultant, Elisabeth, suggests marigold or butter yellow shade to promote the feeling of sharing. The meaning of yellow is warmth, increased energy and enlightenment. If you are not in favour of yellow, you can pick some colour combinations such as sage green with cream hue cabinet or beige with black and grey wooden cabinet or grey tones, from dark to light, matte to glossy. You can play the monochromatic colour palette for your new home to match with your personality and your style.
